When I Was a Kid
By Joyanne Bills
When I was a kid I was happy and playful.
And with all my friends I was helpful and cheerful.
I would spend all my hours playing every day
From Salt Lake City, Utah to New York Bay.
Then as I grew older, I would go to school
And new things, for me, began to seem cool.
I'd hang out with friends and tease all the boys.
Soon in my room their was no room for toys.
I hung up cool posters and my mom was forgotten,
She wouldn't understand all the problems that were rotten.
I would sit in my room and I'd mope and I'd cry
And sometimes, in High School, I'd wish I could die.
And then I grew older when play was all done.
Dances and date nights seemed all that were fun.
And then I got married, had kids of my own
Who would sing to me, read to me, all on their own.
They would laugh, they would cry.
And as they grew, they had to leave home, as I grew old too.
At home, all alone, I watched kids on the streets,
And when grandkids came over, I filled them with treats.
And soon I was old, too old to be true.
And there in my bed, I lied there too.
But after this, a heavenly peace
Awaited me, after my life would cease.
This life long lesson can happen to you,
Because when I was a kid, I was JUST LIKE YOU!
The Bear
by Jaden Bills
One day I saw a bear and ran home to comb my hair.
And also got my Grandma's wheelchair.
Then I sat on it and went out to see the bear!
The Sun
by Jaden Bills
The sun is fun when I run.
When I get home I eat a bun.
Then I run out to the sun and have fun!
The Cat
by Jaden Bills
I have a cat wearing a hat. Fancy that!
The cat with the hat sat.
Then I gave my cat a rat. Fancy that!

The Terrible Two's
by Joyanne Bills
It all has to happen when babies turn 2.
They eat all your candy and knaw on your shoe.
They're crazy, I tell you, there's no stopping them.
If you have a baby, your chances are grim.
They play in the mud and they dirty themselves.
At diaper change time, they hide on the shelves.
At bedtime they're sneaky and energized the best,
They play, never tire, never need any rest.
They're the worst, I will tell you, an enemy nightmare.
They come in while you're sleeping and give quite a scare.
So I wish you good luck, and here are my clues,
You'd better watch out for the terrible two's.
Monsters
by Joyanne Bills
There's a monster in my closet, under my bed and in the couch.
But I actually have a favorite, though he sometimes is a grouch.
He's purple and he's silly, and he's big and fuzzy too.
And sometimes when he's happy, he spits out orange goo.
He makes a honking noise when he ever tries to speak.
And when he gets real angry, all he gets out is a squeak.
He's actually quite delightful, and would make a perfect pet.
But when I asked my mom and dad, I know they'd get upset.
So there's monsters all around my home. Nothing crazy really here.
It's all normal and pretty cool and there's nothing to ever fear.
