First Day of School 2016

An exciting first day of school.
The kids were all up very early jumping around in excitement, anxious to get to school.

Besides the day being very hot, the kids enjoyed school, their new teachers, and seeing their friends.

Box Eldet County Fair

What a fantastic fair week it was!
Wednesday night all rides were just 1 ticket.
So the kids each got to ride 5 rides.
The lines were long so we were there for 2 1/2 hours just getting in all our rides.

Thursday was when we went to the rodeo.
Boy, do we LOVE the rodeo!
This year James did some mutton bustin'.
He ride on the back of a sheep, but he didn't stay on top long.
The sheep ran right over him, leaving him with a bruise and a scrape.
But the experience was pretty fun.

The last event at the rodeo was the motor bikes.
They did some amazing jumps and flips across two ramps spread far apart.

Friday was spent watching the High school Jazz band on the band stand and seeing a hypnotist, Hypno Hick.
The hypnotist was quite fascinating and funny to watch too.
Jacob, Grant, and James wanted their picture behind this cute animals.

Personal Progress

For Joyanne's personal progress in Young Women's, she made a menu plan for 2 weeks, obtained the food, and helped prepare it.
She has been a great help to me.
I think this has benefited both of us.
Look at these large, puffy German Pancakes Joyanne made all by herself.
She is becoming quite the cook!
She will make a great Mommy one day!

Eyes to See With

We went to the eye doctors for check ups, and everyone's eyes are good.
They all see well and don't need glasses!
The eye doctor dilated their eyes so the boys for these great shade to protect their dilated eyes from the sun.

Well, Joyanne found Cozette playing with a tiny mouse.
She took it from Cozette and pleaded with Daddy to keep it.
He told her to throw it away, but she was determined to spare the little mouse's life.
So we set up the hamster cage we had boxed away and put the mouse inside.
The poor little mouse, which Joyanne named Swiss, died in the night.
Sad days.

Joyanne put her own hair in a cute bun.
She's getting good doing hair.

We did come home with lots of sunburns.

Missing Two Front Teeth

James has been singing "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth".
His 4th tooth has come out.
He's lost all 4 teeth this summer.
He was trying to wiggle out another, but we told him he needs some teeth to eat with.

Broken Toe

Never run down the stairs, or you might break your big toe . . . like Noah did.
He was having way too much fun with his cousin, Nathan, running around the house.
Then he somehow tripped down the stairs.
We heard loud moaning, and then the tears came.
Noah was in a lot of pain.
The left big toe just bled and bled.
We cleaned it up and put a bandaid on it and wrapped it.
Well, Noah stilled complained of pain Sunday evening and all of Monday.
On Tuesday he removed the bandages, and the pictures above are what we saw.
His left big toe was all crooked and he couldn't bend it up normally.
So to the doctors we went.

X-rays determined that his toe was broken along the growth plate.
While most broken toes heal themselves, we had to take Noah to an orthopedic surgeon to see what needed to be done.
Dr. Pedersen wrapped Noah's toe and have him a boot to wear for the next month.
He gets to use crutches for a week or two.
At first, Noah loved all the attention, but it got old quickly when he started getting a rash under his arms from hobbling around on crutches.
He also realized he had to stay off his feet as much as possible.
Sitting on the couch gets old pretty fast.
So, hopefully he learns his lesson not to run in the house, but, especially, not to run downstairs.

Swimming at Aunt Susan's and Uncle David's

I had fun taking pictures of the family diving off the diving board.

They all just love swimming in Aunt Susan's and Uncle David's pool.
We love to visit them too.
They are an amazing, caring family who are fun to talk to, play games with, watch movies, and just be with.

Star Valley Wyoming

The sunset was awesome in Star Valley, Wyoming.
We spent last Tuesday through Thursday visiting Joey and Amber.
The first night we enjoyed sitting around the fire, roasting marshmallows, and admiring the beautiful sunset.

On Wednesday, Daddy helped Joey build his house while the other kids helped with other things, and played around.

Then we took an awesome hike up to an intermittent waterfall.

Thursday they built more and then we went kayaking and playing on the water.
We loved being with Joey and Amber.
They are awesome!
