District Champion
You know your a speech and debate kid when you're willing to get up early on a Friday or Saturday morning to go participate in a tournament.
32 students from Rigby participated in a Speech Tournament today.
We had many students who qualified and it was a great team effort.
Rigby High School District Speech Champions |
Jaden was sad about his friend, Christian, not qualifying and showed such loving support to his friend as he shed tears with him and comforted him.
Jaden humbly receives his awards, is grateful to those who have helped him. and then knows he has to continue to work hard to continue to succeed.
CONGRATULATIONS, Jaden!!!

Happy 17th Birthday!
What a happy day for Jaden. He is now 17 years old and only one more year until he is an adult.
He loved getting a chocolate bar that has 45 servings of chocolate. The new basketball was much needed for this boy who loves his hobby of shooting the ball in the hoop. It's a sign of growing up in our home when you get to have your own phone charging cord. That means he gets to keep his phone in his room and not turn it in every night. This is the year he gets to learn to be responsible with his phone and use it appropriately.
Cake is always good, too, especially chocolate cake with sparklers on top.
Hope this year is a special one for you, Jaden.
Make the most of your last year at home.

You're Not Beat Until You Quit
Grandpa was trying to beat me home and ran faster than his legs could carry him. |
Though his face looks pretty banged up, he still can't help smiling. |
It was January 30, 2024. We were out walking in the beautiful, spring-like weather.
It was Grandpa's first walk of the season out on the "country road", as he likes to call it.
I ambled slowly behind him, walking our 3 dogs, Cozette, Piper, and Red.
He walked the mile road to the stop sign and turned around to head back home.
I continued to follow slowly behind, working to manage the 3 dogs.
Grandpa had 2 walking sticks to help balance him out, and he started to speed up.
He then started swaying to the right, swaying to the left, turned to see a bird fly past him, and landed face down on the road.
As I rushed to try to get to him, which took about 5 minutes to get to him, he tried to get up 2 times, and ended up face down again on the road.
As I reached him, he was still so jolly and said he took quite a spill.
After getting him up, and managing to get him home with 3 dogs in tow, we got him all cleaned up.
Not 10 minutes passed by, when he was up and off his couch and back on his stationary bike to put more miles for exercise.
I would have been content to sit for the rest of the day and heal up, but not Grandpa.
He was happy to exercise more.
He later told us that he knew I was behind him and wanted to beat me home, so he was trying to run when he fell.
He is quite the amazing man!!!
