We woke up, tired, but still ready to trek on.
Some of us slept well, but a lot didn't.
They got cold in the night, surprisingly.

Onward, ever onward! |
The wind was terrible on this day.
We had dust blowing in our eyes, nose and mouth.
When we closed our mouth, our teeth would grind the sand that found its way in.
Daddy, or Pa, was a great story teller. Everyone was captivated by the stories he would weave. Even the bishop was all ears and wanted to know how the story of the 3 kings would end. |
Going downhill was almost as hard as going uphill. We had to pull back hard so the handcart wouldn't roll downhill. |
Noah and Kaden are great friends and worked hard pulling the handcart forward. |
Hmmm, what are these two up to?!😉 |
Elizabeth trekked her best. It was hard for her and very trying on her feet, but if she got tired, I would walk in back with her. I was grateful for the slower pace too! |
I love my friend, and the bishop's wife, Cindy. She has such a cheery attitude, and took great pictures. |
Braxton, Ian, Noah, Joyanne, and Pa |
Yay! A break! And time for some much needed water and rest. |
Are we there yet? Nice mustache, Ian. |
We finally got to set up camp and was exhausted.
But, after dinner, when the call came for square dancing, everyone seemed to revive a bit and enjoyed some great dancing.
Cindy and the Bishop |
The dancing was so fun, even despite the blisters and sore feet.
We had gone about 18 miles in 2 days.
We were told that the next we day would have to get up earlier and leave by 7am to trek 8 miles all before lunch and that the first 2 miles would all be uphill.
We didn't know how we were going to make it.
As a ward, we decided we would need to slow down and work together more.
Whew! Everyone was glad to crawl into bed that night.
I brought Melatonin along and shared with everyone.
We all slept well that night.
