Eric Dale Ellsworth
January 1, 1985 ~ November 22, 2016
Eric Dale Ellsworth, 31, returned home to his Heavenly Father on November 22, 2016. He was serving the citizens of the State of Utah as a State Trooper when he was struck by a car and sustained injuries that eventually took his life. He was born on January 1, 1985 to Ronald Dale and Marjorie Call Ellsworth in Ogden, Utah. He attended Clearfield High School. After serving a mission to the Canada Winnipeg Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he married his high school sweetheart, Janica Roane on August 16, 2006 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was an active member of the church and served in several callings. He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and a tremendous desire to be the kind of father and husband that his Heavenly Father would want him to be. His wife and three boys were the joy of his life and his deepest desire was to make sure they were together eternally.
Eric was a Highway Patrol Trooper and had served faithfully for seven years, fulfilling and often exceeding his obligations and responsibilities. He loved his work and the men and women he worked with. He loved serving and helping those he came into contact with while patrolling the highways of this great state.
Eric was the seventh of nine children, was an Eagle Scout, and was passionate about weight lifting and staying fit, and fit he was. He was a Hero to his nieces and nephews and to many others as well. He was a gentle giant; full of compassion, patience, and the pure love of Christ. He would do anything for anyone, especially his family. He will be greatly missed, but his memory will remain with us forever.
He enjoyed camping with his wife, boys, and family. He was also a jokester and was always finding a way to lighten the mood and bring a smile to those around him.
Eric is survived by his sweet wife, Janica; three sons, Bennett, Ian, and Oliver; parents, Ronald and Marjorie Call Ellsworth; seven sisters, Esther (Grady) Peters, Jerome, ID; Rachel (Jason) Moyes, Roy; Lori (Justin) Frost, West Point; Amber (Steven) Martini, West Weber; Lisha (Jacob) Folsom, West Bountiful; Amy (Mark) Davis, Beaver Dam; and Michelle (Brian) Heslop, Roosevelt; and one brother, Michael Ellsworth, West Point. Also survived by Janica’s parents, Duke and Jan Roane and siblings, Tony (Jenny) Roane, Herndon, VA; Andrew (Kari) Roane, Layton; and Tiffany (Matt) Rawson, Bountiful.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dale (Audrey) Ellsworth and Van (Geraldine) Call and niece, Kelli Marie Peters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Dee Events Center, 4450 Harrison Blvd., Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Willard Stake Center, 8230 South Hwy 89. Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
The family wishes to express appreciation to Utah Highway Patrol, its members, and their spouses, as well as the Fraternal Order of Police; and other Utah law enforcement agencies; the medical staff of IMC Trauma Unit; members of the community for their compassionate service, and to those who offered prayers in Eric’s behalf.
My own special trooper.
We are so lucky to have him!
