Scared to Death!

While I was making dinner, I looked outside to see where Grant was.
Last I saw, he was jumping on the trampoline with Joyanne.
Joyanne had come inside and I didn't see Grant in the backyard.
But I did see Daddy working with our landlord on the sprinkler system.
They also had been working on the roof to get our swamp cooler working.
I figured Daddy was keeping track of Grant.

I had food cooking on the stove when I glanced out the window.
I could see two tiny feet dangling from the roof top.
I screamed as I dashed out the door, yelling for Daddy to get Grant.
I stood under Grant with arms outstretched, in case he fell, as he clung to the roofs edge.
Daddy rushed up the ladder and rescued Grant.
I held my baby boy in my arms as my heart pounded, grateful to have him alive and well.
Here's the window, the ladder and the edge where Grant was hanging.
Grant was trying to slide off the roof on his belly and had come just to the side of the ladder.
Whew!  Glad he's safe.
Here's my little baby boy right after.  He's okay!!!

This morning we went to a free track event at the High School.  Joyanne did the softball throw, the 200 meter run and the standing long jump.

Noah ran the 400 meter, the 200 meter, and he did the standing long jump.

Fun times and a good learning experience for both these kids.

I'm still so relieved that Grant is okay and not hurt.  I love my little boy so much!
We had a talk at dinner about our purpose in life and that God won't let us die until it's our time to go.

Memories

Joyanne performed in a patriotic program with the 5th Grade.

Noah also read a story in his Author's Tea.

I got in a great workout today.

Daddy took the kids and flew kites this afternoon.

I made dinner for a neighbor who just had a baby.

I gotta get out tonight on my own and found some great deals shopping.
I bought me about 12 sets of earring for $4.00.

And today was a better day.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to our prophet, Thomas S. Monson and family.
I studied and read a lot about Sister Monson.  She was an amazing lady.

We love and appreciate you, Sister Monson. You will be missed. ~ http://lds.co/frances

Also Grandpa Bills is in our prayers, hoping for a speedy recovery and many more years for him to be around.  WE LOVE YOU, GRANDPA!!!
Photo: Waiting for angiogram and possible stents.
We still have some fishing we wanna do with you.

A Bad Day

Some days turn into bad days.
This morning turned a bit sour for me.

I became overwhelmed by my bad hair day, the piles of laundry heaped on my bed, the rooms with scattered items everywhere, the pictures still left in a pile to be hung around the house, and the kids constant whining and fighting, among other things.

I curled up on the couch and had a good cry.
I try hard to be strong and positive most days, trying to let go of the little things.
But today, those little things built up, and I had to have a little break down and cry.

Prayer was helpful, telling Prince Charming about my frustrations was alleviating, and putting one foot in front of the other and moving forward with cleaning and such was good.
Sometimes I want to wallow in misery and pity myself, but really, what good does that do?
A little cry relieved the stress and helped me take some time to think.
Now it's time to move forward and continue to do good.

I finally hung our pictures around the house and now it feels more like a home.

And you can see a little of the day I've had with Grant refusing to eat dinner and Jaden trying to get in the way of my picture taking.

But I made it through the day, even with a migraine, and here's to hoping for better days tomorrow.

The Kitchen Counter

The kitchen counter is a breeding ground for everyone's stuff.
No matter how many times I try to clean it off, it doesn't stay that way for very long.
In fact, today I was going to clean it all off so I could post a before and after picture.
But I cleaned it off and then within minutes everyone was putting MORE stuff on it.
Aaargh!!!

On a lighter note, I joined the library book club tonight.
They have a great group of gals, and I enjoyed the night.
We read "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet".
It was a good book and a great discussion.

Spelling Bee Champ

Joyanne took 1st place in her 5th Grade Spelling Bee.
So did the other 2 kids.
The contest got down to these last 3 kids and they kept spelling all the words correctly.
They went through the whole list and then did spelling words they had from the previous 2 weeks.
They continued to spell them all correctly.
Finally they decided to do 5 more rounds off the Spelling Bee List and when they all still spelled them correctly, they awarded all three kids 1st place.
Joyanne did so well.
But on one of her words she was asked to spell "phonograph".
She said and spelled "photograph".
The judges said she spelled the wrong word, but she said she thought they said "photograph".
I spoke out and said I heard "photograph" and other parents said they heard that as well.
So they gave Joyanne another word to spell and she spelled it correctly.
Whew! Glad she did well.
She studied hard, writing every word 10 times or more.
And then having me go over her whole list 2 times with her.

On another note, I went to a PTO meeting here.
Nice group of moms here.
I learned that they did a fundraiser where they raised over $7,000 by asking parents for donations.
The students who brought in the most donations, got a prize.
The top prizes were 3 Kindles and then other prizes.
They said they spent only $400 in prizes.
Each child had to bring in $50 to be entered into the drawing for prizes.
Some kids had their name in a couple of times.
Sounds like a good fundraiser.

Blessed with Family

I just love this little guy!
He makes me so happy.  Babies are sooooo cute!
Grant is getting better at listening to me.
He follows me around most of the day.
Sometimes he drives me up the wall, but then I can't stay mad for long.
He's good at making messes, but too cute to get really frustrated.
I think I'm soft on him because he's the baby of the family.

All my kids are blessings in my life.
Joyanne is in the school spelling bee tomorrow.
Noah is doing great with his vocabulary quiz bowl.
Hiram received a certificate today for doing well in math.
Jaden has loved singing and doing projects in class.
James still loves me to read him story after story.

I love Daddy-O too.
He is such a devoted, dedicated husband and hard worker.
He impresses me with his wisdom, humbleness and love.

We definitely have our trials in life, but the gospel of Jesus Christ has really blessed our lives in countless ways and brought a happiness to our life.

Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mother's Day!!!
I received some beautiful flowers, cards, and books.
I taught the Relief Society Lesson.
I learned that I don't teach older people well.
I like the primary and feel comfortable there.
I told my kids that my best Mothers Day present was when each of them were born.
I love my kids so much and am grateful to be their mother.

I love my own mother so much.
She was an amazing woman to give birth to 12 kids in 16 years.
She has always been there for me and is a great example to just love.
She taught me that you can't change anyone else but yourself.
She is a strong, beautiful lady who helps draw me closer to Christ.
I love my mom!

I also love my mother-in-law.
She is a kind, caring woman who also plays the grandmother role very well.
She has many talents and abilities and is a great example of how to live the gospel.
She makes great treats as well.

Happy Mothers Day to all mothers and women everywhere!
