Bad Ending

Bad ending to an okay day.
I woke up this morning determined to work hard and accomplish a lot.
I went to the Bank, went shopping, rushed to prepare funeral potatoes for a funeral while making lunch and dealing with fussy kids.
Daddy brought the groceries in an hour later for me.
Scurried to clean up the kitchen.
Sat and ate a quick lunch.
Taught preschool.
Cleaned more of the kitchen and made dinner.
The kids weren't thrilled with the roasted brussel sprouts.
Cleaned the kitchen AGAIN!!!
Tried to sit down to rest, but then it was time to put kids to bed.
I kinda blew up at Daddy, only to apologize right after, knowing he's had a full day working too and is tired.

Being a mom is tough.
I didn't get through half of what I was hoping to accomplish today.
I've had a load of laundry sitting in the dryer all week.
My kitchen floor is grimy and gross, needing a mopping I just can't find time to give.
I try to stay on top of it all, but sometimes it just feels like everything keeps piling higher.
Some days I just want to sit around and do nothing but read, watch movies or just play with my kids.
When I do, I pay for it later with so much more to do.
But I know I'm supposed to appreciate this time because I'm sure some day later on, I will miss it.
Well, a test was given to me today and I failed.
But I will try again tomorrow and see if I can't do better than today.

Early Birthday Present

Daddy received an early birthday present.
He was excited to use it right away.

The kids were excited to play with Daddy too.
Now Daddy can improve on his putting and enjoy the Disc golf he loves so much.

Seeking to be In Tune

One of the things talked about at Women's Conference on Saturday was praying to be in tune with the spirit.
The speaker held up a violin with broken strings and said, "Can this instrument be played?"
She pointed out it couldn't because the instrument wasn't in tune.
She said instead of praying to be an instrument in the Lord's hand, pray to be in tune with His Spirit so we can act on the promptings we receive.
I liked that.

Tonight one of my children acted defiant and belligerent towards me.
I was tired and without Daddy's help.
I said a prayer for help.
I was amazed as I was able to remain calm and help this child understand what they were doing wrong and give unconditional love.
I couldn't have done this without Heavenly Father's help.
I'm grateful for prayer and how we are blessed as we strive to live righteously.

Manners

While growing up, on Sundays my family would sit at a formal dining table with a tablecloth and china dishes.
We learned how to eat politely and have nice manners.
So tonight I did that with my children.

We ate with nice dishes and talked about politeness and manners.
Like waiting to sit down until the hostess does, putting your napkin on your lap, elbows off the table, taking turns passing the food, saying things like "Please" and "Thank you".
The kids did well and asked that we do it again.
Even Daddy said it was good for him too.

This little puppy, Mira, and I have a love-hate relationship.
She is cute and good as long she gets what she wants.

Teddy Bear Picnic

I went to a Regional Women's Conference this morning.
Audrey Bandley (Singer/Songwriter) and Emily Freeman (Author of many books) came and spoke.
It was inspirational and uplifting.
The theme was from D&C 19:23:
"Learn of Me and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit and you shall have peace in me."
There were other fun activities going on in the area, but this was where I needed to be today.

This afternoon we went on a Teddy Bear Picnic.
Do you know the song?
We ate lunch with all our teddy bears, sang the "Teddy Bears' Picnic" song, and even took our teddy bears down the slide.
We love our teddies at our house.

This little puppy terror was quite the menace tonight.
She kept climbing over the gate we set up and getting everywhere into everything.
She pooped in the hall and peed on the rug.
She's becoming more trouble than she's worth.
And I think I'm getting too old to want to deal with puppies anymore; especially indoor dogs.
So crate her tonight, we will.
Fun times!

Calm and Crazy

Yesterday and today were a little calmer from the past few weeks.
James and I had a whole hour to hang out together, just the two of us.

It was a quiet day, until this evening when Joyanne had 3 of her friends over.
Wow! Those girls sure know how to have a good time.
Four 12 year old girls are silly and crazy together.
It's fun to see them so happy.

Music

My little conductor!
While Noah was practicing his piano, Grant was singing and conducting the music.
Joyanne was saying tonight how much she loved music.
Music soothes the soul and is inspiring.

My sister, Ann, loved music.
She would try so hard to sing, but she was tone deaf.
She still tried to sing anyway.
