Goodbye, Ambree

I drove my niece, Ambree, home today.
She was a great friend and cousin for Joyanne.
Joyanne already misses her so much.
Visiting and spending time with my brother was awesome.

We drove 3 hours to drop her off and then 3 hours home tonight.
It's so nice to sleep in your own bed and be with those you love.

The boys at home had fun cleaning out the garage (which looks great!) and bouncing on the bounce house and playing in the water.

I'm thankful for a forgiving husband who treasures and values me as a person.
I love him so much!!!

My Melt Down

The tears started when I looked at my awful hair.
I had a melt down this morning.
All the things in life just got to me and I had to have a good cry over it all.
The sad thing is, I let my prince charming have it all.
I took it out on him and blew up a few times.

The kids have been home for 3 weeks, 24 hours, 7 days a week.
I love my kids.
I love spending my time with them.
But I truly need a break.
Especially when my kids are giving me the run-around.
And one in particular has just about pushed me to my limits.

Moving is fun and all, but there's so much to do with a move.
I still have boxes to go through, sort, and put away.
I have a garage that needs cleaned out and a shed too.
My room is a mess.
I have spent so much time helping the kids with their chores, that my own room is suffering.

I miss my caring friends from back home.
I don't know why, but it's harder for me to make friends in my new place.

Okay, so there's my rant!
I know, it's a pitiful one, but I feel better just laying it all out on the table.
Now that I got it all out, I can just let go of it all and move forward.
I am grateful for prayer.
I know Heavenly Father hears and answers our every plea.

My amazing and so loving Prince Charming is giving me the day off to do what I want.
I decided I would tackle the things I never get to do and have wanted to.
I started by reading a chapter of my book I'm reading.
I cleaned out so much in my room.
I organized the boys clothes.
I had a peaceful, windy walk that helped me realize where I'm wrong and how I can improve.

Thank you to my Prince Charming.
It was nice to not have to worry about my responsibilities and have a day off!

Flaming Gorge Dam and Jarvie's Ranch

Flaming Gorge was gorgeous and flaming red today.
We visited the Dam and went on the Dam tour (hehehe).
We learned a lot about how electricity is produced through the Dam and how the Dam almost overflowed in 1983.

Our Dam Tour guide (hehehe) told us a funny Dam joke.
What did the fish say when he hit the wall? (Dam)

We also visited a historic site called Jarvie's Ranch.
John Jarvie lived there in the early 1900's.
He was murdered by some theives in 1909.
There was his cabin he lived in and his store.
He also had a black smith's shop and a livery.
Supposedly he housed Billy the Kid at one time.
There were even very old graves of a few others who had lived on or by the ranch many years ago.

On our way home, we took a scenic route.
Hiram and I were petrified as we drove across the swinging bridge.
It's a bridge that's suspended by pulleys.
Nothing is holding it up underneath, just wires spanning the whole length of the bridge hold it up.

I screamed for Daddy to stop the car before he started to cross.
I was sure our car wasn't supposed to go on the bridge and that we would fall if we did go across.
We ended up going across it 3 times!!!
After the first time, I was certain we were going the wrong way.
The second time, after looking at the map, we knew that was the right way so . . .
We went across a third time.
Ahhhh, I was so scared and thought we would go crashing down into the river below us.

We've missed Daddy since he's been working so hard for 5 days in a row.
We are glad to have him home for a few days.
We always get to do fun things when Daddy's home.

Dinosaur Museum Again!

When I walked by the bedroom this morning, Grant was dancing in front of the mirror.
He was having so much fun swinging his body around and looking in the mirror at himself.
I love this little boy!

We went to the Dinosaur Museum again today.
We have a State Park pass that allows us to see it as much as we want for a year.

Noah and I went for our first time today.
They have some amazing exhibits.
Here the kids get to brush away the dirt and look for fossils.
I learned a lot about the geology of this area.

Grant had fun in the play area playing with dinosaurs, puzzles, and blocks.
They have exhibit areas of interest for all ages.

The big mammoth display outside was pretty cool.
How would you like one of these in your backyard?

Happiness comes from within.
Focusing on the positive is the way to go!
I have found my kids react so much better to praise then when I deal with them negatively.
Hoping I can help one of my struggling kids with some positive love and praise tomorrow.

Hot, Hot Day!

A hot day leaves a very cranky mama.
My kids didn't know what overcame me.
I'm not sure either except the 92 degree heat.  Ahhhh!
I really do not like the heat.
Who likes feeling sweaty and sticky all over.
Every time I moved I felt like I had just worked out at the gym with all the sweat my body produced.
Even with a swamp cooler, I just couldn't keep cool.

Well, tonight I feel better after taking a cold shower and soaping my body clean.
The kids were even excited for baths and showers after such a hot day.

When Joyanne said she was doing a read-a-thon in her room, we all crowded on her bed and listened to her read stories.
It was actually quite relaxing in the afternoon heat.

Poems by my Kids

When I Was a Kid
By Joyanne Bills

When I was a kid I was happy and playful.
And with all my friends I was helpful and cheerful.
I would spend all my hours playing every day
From Salt Lake City, Utah to New York Bay.

Then as I grew older, I would go to school
And new things, for me, began to seem cool.
I'd hang out with friends and tease all the boys.
Soon in my room their was no room for toys.

I hung up cool posters and my mom was forgotten,
She wouldn't understand all the problems that were rotten.
I would sit in my room and I'd mope and I'd cry
And sometimes, in High School, I'd wish I could die.

And then I grew older when play was all done.
Dances and date nights seemed all that were fun.
And then I got married, had kids of my own
Who would sing to me, read to me, all on their own.

They would laugh, they would cry.
And as they grew, they had to leave home, as I grew old too.
At home, all alone, I watched kids on the streets,
And when grandkids came over, I filled them with treats.

And soon I was old, too old to be true.
And there in my bed, I lied there too.
But after this, a heavenly peace
Awaited me, after my life would cease.

This life long lesson can happen to you,
Because when I was a kid, I was JUST LIKE YOU!

The Bear
by Jaden Bills

One day I saw a bear and ran home to comb my hair.
And also got my Grandma's wheelchair.
Then I sat on it and went out to see the bear!

The Sun
by Jaden Bills

The sun is fun when I run.
When I get home I eat a bun.
Then I run out to the sun and have fun!

The Cat
by Jaden Bills

I have a cat wearing a hat.  Fancy that!
The cat with the hat sat.
Then I gave my cat a rat.  Fancy that!

About the Author

Jaden writes all kinds of stories, especially additional chapters for "The Magic Treehouse" books.

The Terrible Two's
by Joyanne Bills

It all has to happen when babies turn 2.
They eat all your candy and knaw on your shoe.
They're crazy, I tell you, there's no stopping them.
If you have a baby, your chances are grim.

They play in the mud and they dirty themselves.
At diaper change time, they hide on the shelves.
At bedtime they're sneaky and energized the best,
They play, never tire, never need any rest.

They're the worst, I will tell you, an enemy nightmare.
They come in while you're sleeping and give quite a scare.
So I wish you good luck, and here are my clues,
You'd better watch out for the terrible two's.

Monsters
by Joyanne Bills

There's a monster in my closet, under my bed and in the couch.
But I actually have a favorite, though he sometimes is a grouch.
He's purple and he's silly, and he's big and fuzzy too.
And sometimes when he's happy, he spits out orange goo.

He makes a honking noise when he ever tries to speak.
And when he gets real angry, all he gets out is a squeak.
He's actually quite delightful, and would make a perfect pet.
But when I asked my mom and dad, I know they'd get upset.

So there's monsters all around my home.  Nothing crazy really here.
It's all normal and pretty cool and there's nothing to ever fear.

About the Author

She excels at the piano and everything she sets her mind to.

Free Fishing Day

James caught a fish!
The rest of us tried but just ended up enjoying the nice sunshine and beautiful day.
